Literature Text
Minuten im Sekundentakt
ein Jahr ist schnell verflogen
Das Leben nur ein Augenblick
die Zeit hat mich betrogen
Vor Wochen hat ich schwarzes Haar
nun sind sie blass und grau
Nach nur einem Wimpernschlag
war ich eine alte Frau
Eben noch da war ich jung
die Welt lag mir zu Füßen
und nun hör ich so nahe schon
die Toten leise grüßen
Morgenglut und Abendrot
leichter Wind und Sturm
der Himmel einst so strahlend blau
ein dunkler Wolkenturm
Lichtermeer der Abendwelt
Felswände grau und matt
Berggipfel und Schneekristall
die Wunder einer Stadt
Ich war so blind so ahnungslos
hätte ich nur Acht gegeben
könnt ich doch einen einzgen Tag
ein zweites Mal erleben
Es ist noch keine Stunde her
da erwachte Morgenlicht
schon tanzen Schatten durch das Land
verschleiern meine Sicht
Eben noch so kommst mir vor
saß ich allein am Strand
roch die salzige Meeresluft
machte Abdrücke im Sand
Doch diese sind schon lange fort
vom Wasser weggewaschen
Ich trete diese Reise an
um neue zu hinterlassen
Nie mehr bin ich unachtsam
dies werd ich mir geloben
Mein Abschiedswort ein Lebewohl
die Hand zum Gruß erhoben
Mein Atem wird schon langsam schwer
Der Wind streichelt mich sacht
Ach könnte ich doch Sterne sehen
In dieser letzten Nacht

Death Daydreams
Who can measure the death of a dream?
Wake up just to die again
Rise up just to fall in love again
With the sickly sweet sense of demise
That we all know so tortuously well
Feel it rake your body and soul
Every finger; a nail
Hammering into the coffin of all
Those hopes we once held so very dear
But it's a good kind of pain
Or rather a release of impossibility
Nevermore shall we dance in futility
In danse macabre, we will be set free
The tune of despair and defeat
Never sounded so sweet
As it does when hope fails
And death's embrace stands ready
For Death is always there waiting
Always ready to welcome the broken beings
That we all find

Labyrinth
Ideas, thoughts and feelings
wander through my head.
Longing, enjoyment,
frustration, dread.
Thoughts emerging in the middle
amongst all this tumult,
strive to find a way out
without finding fault.
The walls of this labyrinth
are all inside my mind,
many ways to decide upon
before the light they find.
The spark of ideas,
ignite and rush forth,
only to be extinguished
as the way it gets cut short.
So many decisions to be made
each day, day in and out
but not all make it through the labyrinth,
the labyrinth of doubt.

Autumn Again
i. Autumn
The leaves are just starting to turn –
someone has been tattooing them,
highlighting their silhouettes
with goldenrod,
and gossamer dew pearls
hang in the grass in the early morning.
We can feel the frost framing our days,
the hint of it in our cups of tea
and in our scarves draped over sweatshirts
(it’s not quite cold enough for a coat yet),
and in the musk of the understory and the fireplaces
that fill our lungs and
we exhale this out into the night and
we form nebulae with the water vapor in our breath.
And when the first echoes of shivers
start to blur our outlines,
we snuggle, sweater to sweater,
and dream of
